At West Michigan Midwifery, we believe every family deserves access to support during pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period. The following community resources may help with insurance coverage, financial assistance, baby supplies, parenting support, and safety resources.
Financial Support for Growing Families
Rx Kids Muskegon
Families living in the City of Muskegon may qualify for direct cash support during pregnancy and after birth.
- Available for expectant mothers who live in the City of Muskegon
- Enrollment begins at 16 weeks of pregnancy
- Eligible mothers receive $1,500 during pregnancy
- Eligible babies receive $500 per month for the first six months after birth
- Applies to infants born on or after June 1, 2026
Insurance Coverage During Pregnancy
Michigan Medicaid
Pregnant individuals may qualify for Medicaid coverage, which can help cover prenatal care, labor and birth services, postpartum care, and other medical needs.
Doula Support
Medicaid-Covered Doulas
Did you know Medicaid may cover doula services? Doulas provide emotional, physical, and informational support during pregnancy, labor, birth, and the postpartum period.

Maternal Infant Health Program (MIHP)
The Maternal Infant Health Program provides home-based support during pregnancy and after birth. Services may include:
- Parenting support and education
- Community resource referrals
- Transportation assistance
- Housing resources
- Mental health support
- Substance use treatment referrals
- Help navigating DHHS and community programs
St. Gianna Baby & Toddler Pantry
Provides free essentials for families including:
- Diapers and wipes
- Formula
- Baby clothing
- Maternity items
The pantry also serves as a referral hub for pregnancy counseling, postpartum support, mental health services, substance use treatment, and domestic violence resources.
